Sepaktakraw, rooted in Southeast Asian tradition, was introduced to Sri Lanka in the early 1990s and soon captured the interest of local sports communities. The Amateur Sepaktakraw Association of Sri Lanka (ASASL) was established in 1990, laying the foundation for organized development. A landmark moment came in 2015, when Sepaktakraw was officially recognized as Sri Lanka’s 50th National Sport. In 2023, the organization evolved into the Sri Lanka Sepaktakraw Federation (SLSTF), reflecting its modern, professional vision. Today, SLSTF operates under the Ministry of Sports and proudly represents Sri Lanka in global arenas through ISTAF, ASTAF, and SASTAF affiliations, showcasing national talent at prestigious tournaments like the King’s Cup, Asian Games, and South Asian Championships.
Our vision is to make Sri Lanka a leading nation in Sepaktakraw, recognized for excellence, discipline, and innovation both regionally and internationally. We strive to inspire athletes, coaches, and fans across the nation by cultivating a sporting culture rooted in teamwork, integrity, and national pride — empowering Sri Lanka to stand tall on the global Sepaktakraw stage.
Our mission is to develop and promote Sepaktakraw throughout Sri Lanka by fostering inclusivity, professionalism, and athlete growth. We aim to build modern training infrastructure, strengthen coaching and refereeing excellence, ensure equal opportunities for all genders, and create international pathways that bring global exposure to local talent — all while upholding integrity, transparency, and good governance in every aspect of our work.
We uphold the EXCEL values — the foundation of Sri Lanka Sepaktakraw Federation’s identity and
success:
• Endurance – Perseverance in achieving excellence.
• Xcellence – Striving for continuous improvement and performance.
• Collaboration – Building unity across players, coaches, and officials.
• Expertise – Promoting skill mastery and professionalism.
• Loyalty – Commitment to national integrity and fair play.

It ensures that all federation activities — from elections and selections to administration and finance — are conducted transparently and in compliance with Sports Law No. 25 of 1973 and the National Associations of Sports Regulations No. 1 of 2025, issued by the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs. The SLSTF Constitution operates under the guidance and approval of the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs to ensure compliance with national sports law. This alignment guarantees that SLSTF maintains recognized legal status, administrative legitimacy, and accountability within the Sri Lankan sports framework. The Ministry provides oversight for elections, selections, funding, and development programs, ensuring ethical and transparent operations.
The Constitution is periodically reviewed to reflect new governance standards, international affiliations, and national policy updates. The most recent revision was approved at the Post AGM/SGM held on 28 August 2025, ensuring compatibility with the latest Ministry of Sports directives and federation growth objectives. All amendments are formally documented and ratified with member participation, reinforcing SLSTF’s democratic and transparent governance system.
The Constitution promotes good governance built upon five guiding principles:
1. Transparency – Clear, accountable decision-making at every level.
2. Integrity – Upholding ethics in all administrative and sporting conduct.
3. Equality – Ensuring fair opportunities for both male and female athletes.
4. Discipline – Maintaining professionalism and respect across all participants.
5. Progress – Continuously advancing Sri Lanka’s position in global Sepaktakraw.
